Abstract

Workplace mobbing is an important psychosocial occupational risk associated with adverse employee outcomes. This study examined associations between exposure to workplace mobbing, burnout symptoms, job satisfaction, selected psychosomatic symptoms, and perceived team atmosphere among 302 economically active adults from the Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. Data were collected between October 2025 and January 2026 using an anonymous original 29-item questionnaire. Fisher’s exact test, the Mann–Whitney U test, and Spearman’s rank correlation were used. Mobbing experience was reported by 58.3% of respondents. Burnout symptoms were more frequent among respondents reporting public humiliation and criticism (55.8% vs. 17.2%; p < 0.001). Participants reporting mobbing consistently showed lower job satisfaction across all analysed dimensions (all p < 0.001). No statistically significant associations were found between mobbing experience and gender, age, or length of employment. Supervisors’ effective responses to mobbing were strongly positively correlated with perceived team atmosphere (rho = 0.61; p < 0.001). The findings highlight the organizational consequences of workplace mobbing and the importance of effective managerial responses.
